Letey Hanuman Ji (Bade Hanuman) Temple Guide

Situated just meters away from the holy Triveni Sangam convergence line, the Letey Hanuman Ji temple (also locally known as Bade Hanuman Ji) features a highly unique idol. It is the only known temple globally where Lord Hanuman is depicted in a reclining, resting posture.

The Mythological Lore

According to Indian mythology, after securing victory in the epic battle of Lanka alongside Lord Ram, an utterly exhausted Lord Hanuman sank into the ground here purely to rest. During the heavy monsoon floods every year, the waters of the mighty River Ganga rise significantly to completely submerge the temple grounds, symbolically "bathing" the deity before miraculously receding.

A visit to the Sangam is deemed deeply incomplete without offering local laddu prasad and vibrant red vermiculite (sindoor) to Bade Hanuman Ji. The queues flow rapidly, but remain highly dense on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
